The Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) coordinates special education evaluations and services for NYC children ages 3–5 with disabilities or developmental delays that affect learning. Families can request an evaluation in writing through the CPSE office serving their home address. For eligible children, the CPSE develops an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and arranges appropriate services at no cost to families. Preschool special education guides are available in multiple languages. Families should state their preferred language when requesting an evaluation and ask their CPSE about bilingual evaluation options.
