Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE)
The Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) is part of New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) and coordinates the special education evaluation and services process for preschool children ages 3–5 who have disabilities or developmental delays that affect learning. Families can request an evaluation through their local CPSE, which coordinates the evaluation process and, for children found eligible, develops an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and arranges appropriate preschool special education services. Services are provided free of charge to eligible children, and families are assigned to a CPSE based on where they live.
